OUR LEGACY
First, it served as a gatekeeper's house for the esteemed Royal family of Bavaria during the 1800s, transitioning into a quaint grocery store, and later a laundry. From the mid-1950s, this charming space transformed into the very first flower store of the neighborhood. On November 11, 2022, Opulent Floral Design & Concept Store began its remarkable journey, ushering in a new era of elegance and sophistication in the historic district of Herzogpark.
"Gated community" Something different in the last century!
Munich's HERZOGPARK - simply a very special piece of earth. Did you know that the area was essentially a "gated community" in the early 20th century? The beautiful flower pavilion on Kufsteiner Platz is the former gatehouse - still in its original form - equipped with a guard and barrier at the time.
For many years access was only possible via Mau-erkircher Straße. At Kufsteiner Platz the entrance was secured by a barrier with a guard. This exact gate into Herzogpark can still be admired today - best known as Florian's Flower Pavilion at Kufsteiner Platz 5.
In 1805, Count Montgelas had the garden architect von Sckell come to his castle
Steppberg - between Isar and Montgelasstrasse - create a park. This was later acquired by Duke Max of Bavaria, to whom the elegant residential area also owes its name.
When the royal family could no longer maintain the park around 1900, the area of around 1.3 million square meters was divided into various building plots by a land company and settlement began.
In the beginning, the Herzogpark also served as a hunting area, so this was basically the gatehouse," explains Monika Schörner, who has been working as a florist at the site for over 20 years and we've seen a lot of celebrities come and go.
“The little house used to serve as a place for a fruit and vegetable shop, then a laundry was housed here until the mid-70s
finally the flower shop came. I think it's particularly nice that when Kufsteiner Platz was developed in the 1950s, the gatehouse was preserved as a gem."
